B.C. fans of the hit HBO series, The Last Of Us, are excited.
Season 2 will be shot in British Columbia.
Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim said he is thrilled about the news and that it confirms the city’s reputation as a first-rate production location.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome The Last of Us to our city as they bring the production of their next season to Hollywood North,” said Sim in a statement.
“The Last of Us is one of the biggest productions ever filmed in Canada and one of the largest shows on television today. The choice to move filming to Vancouver is a demonstration of our city’s continued strength in the film and television sector.”
Lana Popham, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, says the show is one of the biggest productions ever to come to the province, and is a major boon to B.C.'s economy - and an opportunity for global viewers of the show to experience the beauty of British Columbia.
She notes that Alberta set an amazing precedent in Season 1 for BC crews to continue working on the successful series.
BC is the largest motion-picture hub in Canada, and the third largest in North America, with 44,000 full-time jobs and more than 88,000 workers in the industry throughout the province.
There’s no word on when Season 2 will begin shooting.
