Homalco First Nation is hosting community members at Homalco Hall on Friday as the Nation has declared a state of emergency in response to the escalating opioid crisis.

Chief Darren Blaney announced the State of Emergency earlier this week, noting that four youths have tragically lost their lives to toxic drugs in the last six months.

The meeting for community members, happening between 5pm and 7pm.

It will serve as a platform to discuss the current situation, share information, and develop strategies to combat the crisis.

The meeting will include an open forum where Chief and Council will be available to answer questions.

The Nation says it is an opportunity for people to voice their concerns, share experiences, and contribute to the dialogue on how everyone can support one another during this challenging time.
