It is Emergency Preparedness Week.
The nationwide event encourages Canadians to take real actions to better prepare and protect themselves and their families during emergencies.
The SRD will be hosting a series of events and workshops throughout the region, including at the Strathcona Gardens Rec Complex today on preparing your household for a wildfire evacuation. Two sessions - from 2pm to 3pm and 7pm to 8pm.
As the probability of damaging wildfires has increased in recent years, due in part to the effects of climate change, the sessions will help you prepare your home, protect your property, and understand what to do if a wildfire is close.
On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, there will be a presentation on disaster preparedness for your pets, from 3pm to 4pm and again 7pm to 8pm.
