It is the first day of summer.

It’s the earliest summer solstice in about 200 years.

The summer solstice occurs when the Sun travels along its northernmost path in the sky, marking the start of summer in the northern half of the globe.

The first day of fall will be on September 22nd.

Summer officially begins at 1:51 p.m. Pacific Standard Time this afternoon.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
