Bat Week is coming up. Held annually from October 24th to 31st, it’s an international celebration raising awareness about the need for bat conservation.

The Town of Comox is hosting a free Bat Chat with a pro on Friday (October 25th from 4pm to 6pm at the Comox Community Centre).

Tim Ennis, a local biologist specializing in wildlife and conservation, will share his knowledge and passion for bats and shed light on their vital role in our ecosystem.

The Town notes that bats are crucial to the health of our natural world and economy, playing an important role in the environment by consuming large quantities of insects, pollinating flowers, and spreading seeds that grow into new plants and trees.

As a designated Bat-Friendly Community, the Town of Comox says it is committed to protecting bats and their habitats.

Residents are encouraged to learn more about the challenges these incredible mammals face and explore the many ways to assist and support their survival.

The Bat Chat with Tim Ennis is a drop-in event, open to all. In addition to the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to view educational displays and get a close look at a bat house design.
