The road across the Strathcona Dam will be closed to public traffic beginning Monday, January 22, 2024, through the end of the month.
The closures will be in place between 8am and 4pm, Monday to Friday, through January 31st.
It’s part of early site work on the Strathcona Dam Water Discharge Upgrade Project - removing trees outside of the bird nesting season.
There will also be a partial road closure on Island Highway South, between Erickson Road and Ken Forde Park in Campbell River, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, January 23 and 24, 2024.
The closure is for City maintenance work. One-lane alternating traffic will be in effect, and the City says minor delays may occur.
And to protect trail users and a bridge, a hazardous tree is being removed along the Whaletown Creek Trail (aka Jocelyn Road trail), which is connected from Carrington Bay Road to Jocelyn Road and Whaletown Commons.
Work will start later this week - Friday – and last about four days. The trail will be temporarily closed while crews are working on site.
