Canada’s 24th Prime Minister, Mark Carney, is set to be sworn in at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.
The 59 year old will also announce a new cabinet, a much smaller one than Justin Trudeau’s.
In a post to his social media channels this morning, Trudeau thanked Canadians for trusting in him, for challenging him, and for granting him what he called the privilege of serving the best country, and the best people, on earth.
Carney is expected to call a snap federal election in the coming days.
The former head of the Bank of Canada won the Liberal Leadership on Sunday after Trudeau announced his resignation in January.
