A fundraiser is underway for the Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society as it continues to care for hundreds of native wildlife patients, with the aim to release them back to the wild.
MARS looks to conserve and protect native wildlife and its natural habitat through education and rehabilitation.
Each year the wildlife hospital cares for more than 1000 native wildlife patients with the aim to release them back to the wild.
Its main focus is Avian, but they receive a number of other animals to the Rescue Centre in Merville, including racoons and beavers, tree frogs and garter snakes, black-tail deer and bats.
In fact, October is Bat Appreciation Month, with events happening throughout the month. MARS currently has more bats at the Rescue Centre than ever before.
Their Winter Raffle runs until December 21st. Prizes include round-trip tickets anywhere Westjet flies, and 2 nights Storm Watching at the Cox Bay Beach Resort in Tofino.
Tickets are one for $10, 4 for $20, 20 for $50, and 100 for $100. To purchase your tickets, go to MARS Winter Raffle.
The Visitor Centre is open year round 10am to 3pm, Friday to Sunday, and tours can be booked online MARS Wildlife Rescue.
