Métis Week Underway

Métis Week is underway, honouring the heritage and contributions of the Métis people.

Flags are going up in municipalities in the Comox Valley.

Things get underway at the Village of Cumberland office at 10:30am. The Town of Comox will raise its flag at 12pm and the City of Courtenay at 1pm.

Campbell River will raise its flag tomorrow at 11am in Spirit Square.

Louis Riel Day falls on Saturday, acknowledging the importance of Riel as a political leader and advocate of justice for the Métis people who continue to strive for rights and recognition to this day.
