There is an event today in the Comox Valley to raise awareness of violence against women and children.

The Moosehide Campaign aims to foster awareness, solidarity, and healing in the community.

The event will take place at the Comox Art Gallery at noon, followed by activities at The Big House on Comox First Nation lands at 3pm.

Through gatherings, workshops, and advocacy, the campaign seeks to engage individuals and communities in dialogue and action to address the root causes of gender-based violence.

At the gallery, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with art installations, interactive exhibits, and presentations focusing on the importance of cultivating healthy relationships, understanding consent, and supporting survivors of violence.

At 3pm, the event will transition to The Big House on Comox First Nation lands, where participants will gather for traditional ceremonies, storytelling, and community sharing.

This portion of the event underscores the importance of acknowledging and respecting Indigenous cultures, histories, and perspectives in the journey towards reconciliation and healing.

Individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and identities are invited to participate.

Whether you're a long-time advocate or new to the cause, organizers say your presence and support are invaluable in driving meaningful change.
