There will be a lot going on in the region on Monday, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The 4th Comox Valley Spirit Walk launches from Simms Park and goes through downtown Courtenay.

Organizers are encouraging people who want to participate to wear orange to remember Indigenous children and families affected by Indian Residential schools.

Opening Ceremonies begin at 11am at the Florence Filberg Centre.

Participants can drop in anytime between 11am and 5pm to register, receive a map, and walk the route, learning along the way.

The Strathcona Regional District is encouraging employees and members of the community to observe, whether through personal reflection, education, participating in awareness activities,  or wearing orange to raise awareness that 'Every Child Matters’.

The 9th Annual Every Child Matters Walk begins Monday at 11:00 am in Campbell River's Spirit Square.
