A new lighting initiative has brightened up the alleyway connecting downtown Comox to Marina Park.

Led by Comox Business in Action (BIA) with support from the Town of Comox, the lighting project, located along Harbour Greenway from Comox Avenue to the park, aims to increase safety and to create a welcoming atmosphere during the darker months.

The Comox BIA spearheaded the project by providing seed funding and coordination with various interest groups.

They Town says nearby building owners and the support of the d’Esterre Seniors' Centre along the pathway were instrumental in bringing the vision to reality.

“This lighting project is an exciting example of the strong collaborative partnership between the Town and our Downtown Business Association,” said Comox Mayor, Nicole Minions.

“With the BIA’s leadership, this initiative has created a vibrant, accessible, and beautiful ambiance for the area, especially during our short fall and winter days.”, said Pete Chambers, President of the BIA.

“It’s vitally important to enhance downtown Comox, in big and small ways, to motivate residents to continue to enjoy the area and support the amazing small businesses that bring downtown to life.“
