The City of Courtenay is hosting a drop-in open house today to go over plans and gather feedback on upgrades to a stretch of Cousins Avenue.
The project will include road improvements, repaving and replacement of underground services between Willemar Ave and 20th Street.
It will study current traffic flow and parking challenges in the area and investigate road and pedestrian improvements such as parking, sidewalks, and trail connections.
The open house runs today from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Florence Filberg Centre.
The City’s Manager of Engineering, Adam Pitcher, said in a release that Cousins Ave is a unique area, with a mix of light industrial, single-family residential and mixed-use buildings, creating challenges such as traffic flow and parking limitations.
Specifically, the City is encouraging members of the community who use the area to get involved and share their feedback on the design options.
If you are unable to attend the open house in person but want to provide feedback, an online survey is also available at City of Courtenay.
Detailed design is planned to start next year followed by construction in 2025.
