Police are seeking witnesses or anyone with information about a single vehicle collision that took the life of one man.

At 12:30am Sunday morning, Campbell River RCMP received a report that a vehicle had left the Gold River Highway and gone down an embankment.

A motorist had noticed that highway barriers were out of place on Highway 28 between Campbell River and Strathcona Lodge. Upon further investigation a vehicle was located fully submerged in water. Tragically, one person did not survive.

There is no indication that anyone else was involved in the crash.

The investigation is in the early stages and the cause of the crash is not yet known.

The Campbell River RCMP, with the assistance of the RCMP Dive Team and the Campbell River Search and Rescue Team, were working to recover the vehicle and deceased yesterday.

Anyone with any information or dash cam footage of the crash is asked to contact Campbell River RCMP at 250-286-6221.
