It’s going to be a rainy couple of days in the region.
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for much of the Island, including East Vancouver Island from Campbell River to Nanoose Bay, and from Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay.
A Pacific weather system will move onshore Tuesday and stall over the region, bringing abundant moisture from the subtropics. Rain will start in the morning, and then become heavy Tuesday night and continue through Wednesday.
There is as much as 60 to 80 mm in the forecast, starting this morning and becoming heavy late in the day. As the system stalls over the region, rain will continue through Wednesday.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
