The BC Government is warning residents who use the Pay BC website about a phishing scam.

An alert posted to the actual Pay BC website, says the government has become aware of phishing attempts against PayBC users.

An identical fake website has been created by what the province calls “malicious actors,” to potentially steal personal and/or credit card information.

The alert suggests people be vigilant against phishing attempts by never sharing information without verifying the legitimacy of a website.

Also, do not click on unfamiliar links received via text or email that ask for your personal or credit card information.

Please ensure you are using https://pay.gov.bc.ca when making a payment through PayBC as the fake site has a similar address.
