North Island College students will be taking the stage for convocation ceremonies this week.

The Campbell River, Port Alberni and Comox Valley campuses are holding events for graduates, with more than 380 students joining NIC, their families and friends for convocation.

Registrar Michelle Badger says this year, they have a record number of students attending convocation.

The numbers for each campus are 64 in Port Alberni, 60 Campbell River and 264 in Comox Valley. The highest previous number at a campus was 185 in the Comox Valley.

The Campbell River convocation goes this afternoon at the Tidemark Theatre starting at 1 p.m. Almost half of the graduates have taken NIC Health and Human Services programs.

Another 21 have finished Arts, Science and Management programs, while others have completed trades or upgrading programs.

The Port Alberni campus holds its ceremony tomorrow (Tuesday) at 5 p.m. at the ADSS Theatre.

About two-thirds of the graduates have finished Health and Human Services programs.

Other graduates have taken trades, office administration, business administration or other programs.

A half dozen students have earned Indigenous Leadership Certificates to gain the tools and knowledge to work at management and administrator levels of Indigenous organizations and communities across Canada.

On Wednesday, NIC will hold two convocations for the Comox Valley campus, each at the Sid Williams Theatre.

The early ceremony, starting at 10 a.m., is for Health and Human Services graduates, including those in nursing, early childhood care and education, and health care assistant programs.

The morning convocation will also include students who have completed upgrading programs.

At 2 p.m., the graduates from Arts, Science and Management programs hold their convocation.

This includes students from a range of programs including arts and sciences, business administration, digital design, office administration, tourism and hospitality, fine arts and trades.
