Cumberland Community Schools Society is hosting a Repair Café at Cumberland Community School on Saturday, April 26th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event provides an alternative for household items destined for the landfill to be repaired and reused for free.
Program Coordinator Kate Ashton says they more than doubled the number of items fixed at the Cumberland Repair Cafe last year, demonstrating the continued need to host these events in the Valley.
Comox Strathcona Waste Management says they are excited to support the event, which tackles waste diversion through public education.
The Cumberland Repair Café is currently looking for volunteers who have expertise in fixing items such as jewelry, leather, wool, small appliances, toys, or electronics. (Email coordinator@ccssociety.org to sign up as a volunteer).
