Schools Closed In Campbell River And Comox Valley

Due to the weather, schools in Campbell River and the Comox Valley are closed today, Tuesday, February 4th.

Both school Districts say the safety of students and staff is their top priority.

Evening events or facility rentals are also cancelled.

The snowfall warning is still in effect for East Vancouver Island. Things will settle as the morning progresses.

The Comox Valley Regional District has activated warming centres until at least Thursday morning.

Open from 10pm to 6am, the warming centres at the Lower Native Sons Hall in Courtenay, Buchanan Hall in Cumberland, and Spinnaker Building in

Comox will be open for people to get out of the cold during this recent bout of winter weather.

The Campbell River Community Centre has been acting as a warming centre since Friday evening, open 10pm to 7am.
