School District 71 Secretary-Treasurer Brenda Hooker will be leaving Comox Valley Schools at the end of this school year.

Hooker is moving on to become the new Secretary-Treasurer with the Cariboo-Chilcotin School District 27 this summer.

“I have enjoyed my time here in the Comox Valley and am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with many wonderful people in the district,” said Brenda Hooker.

“I’m going to continue working to provide financial stewardship for the rest of the school year before beginning my new role this summer.”

Brenda has served in this role since late-2020 and the district is grateful for her steadfast work. She arrived in a time of rapid student growth, during the COVID-19 pandemic and helped the district purchase a new administrative space that will help free up more classrooms for students.

“Comox Valley Schools is very appreciative of the work Brenda has done in her time with SD 71 and she’ll be leaving the district on solid financial footing,” says Tom Demeo, Superintendent of Schools.

“We wish her all the best in her new role closer to her family.”

The district will begin a search for a new Secretary Treasurer in the near future.
