The Campbell River School District has announced the top academic graduates and recipients of the prestigious Governor General’s Academic Medals from last year’s graduation class.

Carihi Secondary graduate Mackenzie Hayduk and Timberline Secondary graduate Ella Gregory had the highest academic grade point average of their respective graduating class for their grade 11 and grade 12 courses.

For over 150 years, the Governor General’s Academic Medals have recognized the outstanding scholastic achievements of students in Canada.

The medal is awarded to one student from each secondary school across the country.

Mackenzie will be attending St. Mary’s University this fall to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in astrophysics, while Ella will be attending the University of British Columbia for a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology.
