Crews are busy today in Campbell River and the Comox Valley as the region gets hit with about 10 cms of snow before it's said and done.

The province has issued travel advisories for east and inland Vancouver Island, along with Greater Victoria - and the mainland.
In terms of the plows, the City of Campbell River says the top priority is to keep the major routes passable, and when resources allow, they’ll move on to collector and local routes.

The City would also remind residents that it is best, if you can, to park off the street - both during and after a snowstorm – so plows can clear snow.

To help, keep the catch basin grates in front of your property clear to help prevent puddles and flooding once the snow melts.
Due to the combination of low temperatures and snowfall, the City again activated a warming centre at the Community Centre, despite the milder temperatures.

School District 72 schools in Campbell River are open as usual today.

Due to the snow conditions currently impacting the area, all Comox Valley Schools will be closed.

This decision is made with the safety of students, staff, and community as top priority.

NIC campuses in Campbell River, the Comox Valley and Port Alberni are also closed due to the weather.

The college says a decision on evening classes will be made by 3pm Wednesday.

All Comox Valley Children’s Day Care Society daycare sites are also closed today.

That includes Lighthouse in Courtney and Aspen Grove and Tigger Too in Comox.
