The Strathcona Regional District is looking to hear what Area C residents think about short-term rentals in their community.
As part of the Stronger BC strategy, the Ministry of Housing released the Homes for People housing action plan in April 2023.
It’s intended to address the housing crisis across BC and includes several pieces of new or revised legislation with implications for communities, including Electoral Area C – Discovery Islands and Mainland Inlets.
One example is Bill 35: the Short-Term Rental Accommodations Act.
A short-term rental or vacation rental is considered to be occupied for 90 days or less, and frequently pop up on apps such as Airbnb or VRBO.
A quick, five-minute survey can be found at Strathcona Regional District.
