Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement East Vancouver Island - including Courtenay to Campbell River, and surrounds.
Very windy conditions are expected Tuesday afternoon to late Wednesday with peak wind speeds expected Tuesday night.
A significant fall storm is set as an area of low pressure will deepen rapidly, some 400 kms west of Vancouver Island on Tuesday.
It’s then forecast to curl northwards on Wednesday, remaining offshore throughout the period.
The system will bring lots of rain to western portions of the Island.
Southeasterly winds will increase through the afternoon on Tuesday, with peak wind speeds expected for most areas on Tuesday night.
Strong winds are likely to continue on Wednesday morning but should ease later in the day.
East-to-west inland valleys can expect very strong winds.
