Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North is celebrating after a big month of fundraising in February.
The group took over some space on Shopper’s Row for the Habitat Escape Room, all with the goal of raising money to provide affordable housing for families in the community.
Habitat VIN says about 400 people took part in the fun as teams raced against the clock to solve puzzles, find clues, and escape in record time.
The Escape Room fundraiser took in $8,340 for Habitat’s next build in Campbell River.
They’re already closing in on their next fundraiser - a charity poker tournament on Friday, March 14th, being held at the Willow Point Lions Club & Hall in Campbell River (2165 South Island Highway).
It should be noted that it is a 19+ event.
Proceeds from the Campbell River "Feeling Lucky?" Charity Poker Tournament will be shared between Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North and the dedicated efforts of the Kinsmen and Kinettes.
Organizers are hoping to be able to turn the event into a biannual celebration of community spirit and generosity.
Proceeds raised from Habitat's share from this tournament will go toward its 20-home future affordable housing project in Campbell River.
