There is an open house Tuesday at the surge Narrows Bunkhouse for residents to see what the Strathcona Regional District has been planning for the historic Surge Narrows Store building.
A reconstruction project includes work on the standing pier and floating dock used to access the building and other local amenities.
The Surge Narrows Store was first established in the late 1920’s and closed in 2007.
In 2018 the SRD acquired the store, including the wharf and upland property.
This project will include the installation of new concrete docks, an aluminum quad accessible gangway, and a timbered standing wharf - with an additional 100m of moorage, including designated spots for seaplanes, washrooms, dry storage, and a cell phone booster for the area.
Today’s open house at the Bunkhouse goes from 11am to 2pm.
