The Town of Comox is winding down the current online engagement phase on feedback relating to the Town’s Official Community Plan.
The OCP guides growth and development within Comox, containing a shared vision, community goals, and policies, which inform the regulations that shape Comox’s zoning and future development permits.
It’s essentially a blueprint for all the decisions a local government makes about land use.
Comox Mayor Nicole Minions calls it one of the most important guides they have to shape the future of the town while meeting provincial growth requirements.
The Town’s current OCP was last updated in 2011.
Minions says they want to ensure that as they plan for the next 20 years, their decisions reflect the values, priorities, and visions of the community.
There’s a brief online survey up until Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Engage Comox Valley.
The new plan will offer guidance on policy areas for housing, economic development, transportation, culture, environmental protection, recreation, climate change, truth and reconciliation, parks and trails, development permit guidelines, and infrastructure.
