The Town of Comox is finishing preparations for the annual New Year’s Day Plunge at Goose Spit Park.
Celebrating its 48th anniversary, the event invites everyone to dive into the cool waters of Comox Bay.
A free, family-friendly tradition, the town calls it the perfect way to celebrate the spirit of the Comox Valley, bringing together people of all ages for a fun and refreshing start to the New Year.
Registration begins at 10:30 a.m., and the plunge promptly starts at 11:00 a.m.
“The polar plunge is an invigorating way to come together with energy and excitement for the new year ahead,” said Comox Mayor, Nicole Minions.
“If you’re feeling hesitant about taking the plunge, come to watch and cheer on your family or friends - you just might find yourself taking the leap in next year. Come join us on January 1!”
Participants can warm up afterwards with complimentary hot chocolate – just bring your own mug.
There will be a lot of prizes for those who register onsite, including Fitness Studio memberships, Comox Recreation gift certificates, and passes to the Comox Valley Regional District’s Aquatic and Sports Centre.
Comox Fire Rescue and a lifeguard will be onsite to ensure safety and standby assistance should it be required.
Parking may be limited at Goose Spit, so attendees are encouraged to carpool or use active transportation to the event.
All the information and details can be found at Town of Comox.
