The Comox Valley Regional District will be thanking transit riders later this month with treats and gifts in celebration of Transit Rider Appreciation Day.

“We are very grateful for everyone that uses public transit in the Comox Valley,” says Michael Zbarsky, Manager of Transit and Facilities.

”Approximately 2,500 bus trips are taken each day. Our goal is to continue to build a robust regional service to support current and future riders.”

The CVRD will be sending a transit elf to various exchanges and onto the buses to hand out treats and gifts to riders on November 29th.

“There will be no set schedule; if you’re riding the bus on November 29, keep your eye out for the transit elf,” states Zbarsky.

The transit elf will also be talking to riders to find out what they love about using the transit system and how it works for them.

“With the cost of vehicle ownership constantly rising, transit is a great way for residents to get around while saving money,” adds Zbarsky.

Also, riders can be entered in the Transit Winter Giveaway for a chance to win $500 and a $50 pre-loaded UMO card.

From November 29 until December 19, transit riders can enter online for their chance to win.
