The Town of Comox is showing its support for the hundreds and hundreds of people battling fires throughout British Columbia.
The town shared a Tweet yesterday from West Kelowna Fire Department Chief, Jason Brolund, who wrote: "I'm asking you to write a card, or put a post on social media thanking these teams, making them know that you understand what they're are doing and just put it out there.”
So, the town did just that, tweeting ’’The Canadian wildfire season has been unprecedented and relentless. The fires have deeply affected many communities across this beautiful country. Our hearts go out to you as you try to work through this extremely challenging time.’’ They went on to say, ‘’To the brave firefighters, emergency responders, support personnel and volunteers, we know you are working day and night to keep cities and towns safe. We are thinking of you all and appreciate all that you are doing.’’ Two local teams from the Comox Valley have been deployed to assist in West Kelowna, along with a firetruck. A five person structure protection team is made up of three members from Comox and two from Oyster River.
