The Village of Cumberland has adopted a new Parks & Recreation Fees bylaw, with new pricing coming into effect this fall.
Admission and membership fees are going up about 7 percent on September 1st, while monthly memberships remain 10x the cost of a single admission; annual memberships remain 6x the cost of a monthly membership.
Fees for instructed classes and other registered programs are not affected by the new bylaw.
Parks and Recreation are funded through a combination of taxation and user fees.
The current fees were established in 2019 and the Village says a lot has changed since then, inflation included, which has in turn led to increases in the costs to operate services in the Parks & Recreation department.
The Village says the increases are meant to catch fees up to the rising cost of goods and services over the next five years.
