The Village of Cumberland is looking for a few volunteers to install PurpleAir monitors on their property.

The initiative follows a similar project undertaken in Courtenay, where monitors were installed across the City.

The CVRD received a $5,000 grant from the BC Lung Foundation to purchase PurpleAir monitors that, once installed, will provide real-time air quality data into a global air quality map, helping residents understand localized air quality levels.

That aligns with the Regional Airshed Protection Strategy to expand air quality monitoring networks for education and to conduct ongoing data analysis.

The Village is seeking one volunteer household in each of three particular areas, distributed to volunteers on a first come, first serve basis.

If you live in or around any one of these areas in Cumberland and are interested in participating, please send an email to info@cumberland.ca.

The email should include your address and a short expression of interest.
