Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for East Vancouver Island, including Courtenay and Campbell River.
Winds are in the 70 km/h range, gusting to 90 km/h over exposed coastal areas, and near Haro Strait.
A Pacific frontal system will produce strong southeasterly winds, easing in the afternoon when the front weakens.
The weather agency advises that loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
Keep in mind that high winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches.
